Ranbir Kapoor belongs to the fourth generation of the prestigious 'Kapoor Family' that is reckoned as the first family of Bollywood. His father is Rishi Kapoor and his mother, Neetu Singh.
He did his schooling from Bombay Scottish High School and graduated from Lee Strasberg Institute, New York.
He made his debut in November 2007 with Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Saawariya opposite newcomer Sonam Kapoor. The response for the film was not too great, but Ranbir's work was well appreciated.
In 2007, Saawariya also won him the Filmfare award for the Best Male Debut.
