Shahid Kapoor’s father is actor Pankaj Kapoor of Karamchand fame and his mother is actress and classical dancer Neelima Azeem. His parents are divorced. His stepmother is actress Supriya Pathak. He has a half-sister Sana and a half-brother, Ishaan. Ishaan acted with Shahid in the film, Vaah! Life Ho To Aisi (2005).
Shahid studied first at Gyanbharati at Delhi and later at Rajhans Vidyalaya in Mumbai.
As a child, Shahid starred in the ad for Complan along with Ayesha Takia.
Shahid Kapoor was just 18 when he landed the commercial for Pepsi purely by chance. He starred in the ad along with Shah Rukh Khan, Kajol and Rani Mukerji.
Shahid also starred in a music video for the band Aryans along with his college sweetheart, Hrishita Bhatt.
