Tulip Joshi’s father is Gujarati while her mother is Lebanese. Her sisters are Selphi and Monalisa. She studied at Jamnabai Narsee School and later did her graduation from Mithibai College.
Tulip entered movies quite by chance. She got noticed when she was a bridesmaid at a wedding where director Yash Chopra was present. Following that, she was asked to appear for an audition and she got a chance to act in Mere Yaar Ki Shaadi Hai (2002).
She was noticed by many advertising agencies and thus began her career in modelling. She appeared in a number of advertising campaigns for big brands (Ponds, Pepsi, Siyaram, BPL, Smirnoff, etc.).
She also appeared in a music video made in tribute to Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan.
She later on acted in Dil Maange More with Shahid Kapoor and then Dhokha.
In 2005, she appeared in Matrubhoommi - a dark film about a futuristic world with almost no women. Her performance in it was praised and established her credibility as an actress.
She also acted in a Telugu film called Villain.
