Aishwarya is the new Chhote Ustad
We've been gripping ourselves in anticipation to see who finally wins the title of Amul Star Voice Of India Chhote Ustad but the wait is finally over and the results are out. The Ahmedabad-based girl, who was fondly referred to as 'Style Ben Aishwarya Mujmudar' for her high style quotient, triumphed over 14-year-old Anvesha Dattagupta from Kolkata. Aishwarya won the coveted title, the trophy and Rs 1 lakh. But her journey has just begun if you ask us. After all, the young singer still has a long way to go…
The evening started with a huge bang with an auditorium that was packed to capacity. Aishwarya and Anvesha came on stage looking like the cutest things ever dressed in orange and black and performed to Raat Baki Baat Baki and Aaj Ki Raat respectively.
In the span of three hours, our finalists performed to songs that were old and new. They also got the opportunity to perform with judge Kunal Ganjawalla, Shaan and Indian Idol Abhijeet Sawant. We also saw special appearances from the sultry Malaika Arora Khan and Eesha Koppikhar who very sportingly agreed to dance to the finalists singing live.
The audience was filled with hope for their favourite Ustad but after a certain point no one was hassled with who would win or loose. After all, both girls were stars in their own right… heck they even performed like professionals!
The high point of the evening was the appearance of Amitabh Bachchan who not only launched the soundtrack of his upcoming Bhootnath, but also crowned Aishwarya the winner. But do you know what caught our attention quite out of the ordinary? Both Aishwarya and Anvesha sound exactly the same! You could only tell one from the other when you saw who was mouthing the lyrics. They’re even pretty much the same age and have similar body structures. Perhaps a male contestant would have been able to spice things up a little more.
It wasn’t really an event that one would have enjoyed watching live. Yes, the sets were extravagant and the lighting flawless. But to be in that huge venue to watch a bunch of dots on stage might not have been enjoyable. Television definitely did justice to the entire concert and performances. So if you missed it on Saturday night, or happened to catch it live, try watching the rerun on Star… you’ll see the difference for yourself.
