All things vice and blunderful
A gory week indeed! Six school children injured in vehicle collision; a youth beaten to death by five motorcyclists in a road rage; more than 20 dead and lots more injured the seven-storey, 20-year-old Lakshmi Chaya Tower collapsed in Borivli (West), Mumbai. Can Breaking News (Aaj Tak, Sahara Samay, etc) be more heartbreaking? Our metros seem to be vying with each other in proving which of them can come up with more catastrophes and disasters.
As in Hindi movies, the police and the authorities rush to the spot…after the accident or incident. Age-old and dangerous buildings are not identified and evacuated on time. If the officials spent their time doing this, who would make money back in the office, eh?
TADA Court Judge PD Kode needs to be lauded for awarding deaths (at last) to the bomb blast perpetrators. Death has been meted out after nearly a decade and a half later. But it’s justice nevertheless. If only our PM and the state leaderships would do something about expediting pending court cases that drag on for years. It’s fine for the guilty but terribly wrong on those who are accused but not guilty.
Moving to reel life… Our soap mamas think they know their sons so well they can decide who their sons would love to marry. Mamta (Zee TV) thinks Mimi is best for son Krishna while it’s the mentally disturbed Sanjana who’s stolen her son’s heart. Nevertheless, episodes need to go on, so Mamta agrees for the ‘wrong’ alliance for her son.
The new show Har Ghar Kuch Kehta Hai on Zee TV continues in the vein of the film Hum Aapke Hain Kaun with the marriage festivities of Prarthna and Akshay going on and on, and Prarthna’s cousin Sidhi meeting her match Gyan Kapoor, a la Madhuri, both tumbling on the bed.
