Dhoom Macha De on NDTV Imagine
Happened to catch a special episode of Dhoom Macha De on NDTV Imagine the other day. The show, mounted on a lavish scale, features established singers trying to impress the triumvirate of Shankar Mahadevan, Sharmila Tagore and Prasoon Joshi. Needless to say, the show has been getting more eyeballs for its anchor rather than the quite talented bunch of contestants (Jaspinder Nirula, Devang Patel, Anaida, and so on).
Jaspinder Narula makes a comeback
Malaika Arora needs some rest and respite from the limelight I think. Her sunken cheeks, and the very unflattering red dress (designed by her sister-in-law, we guess), did nothing to add any freshness into her whole proceeding. It is a pity, since Malaika is a true-blue TV personality.
Even as Malaika tried her best to Dhoom Macha De with gusto, it was difficult to focus on anything but her legs. Maybe that was the desired effect?!
Moving on to the judges, Sharmila Tagore is such a pleasant surprise on television. She comes across as an extremely affable and witty person, and a complete natural in the rarefied environs of the reality show. A welcome change from the disastrous reality debut of Simi Garewal on an earlier show.
The show's redeeming factor also comes in the form of the singers, especially, the likes of Nirula, who seem to have taken the whole thing quite seriously, and are obviously putting in a lot of effort into their performances.
Verdict: Quite different from its cousins, Dhoom Macha De is worth a watch. Only Malaika needs a new stylist for sure.
