Munish Makhija is 'different'
Udham Singh's USP was his language. The quintessential Indian villager look that Munish Makhija brought to the show on Channel V, made it worth watching years back. So when we heard he's back on TV with nothing less than a reality TV show, we were eager to watch it.
Bindaas' Cash Cab – Meter Chalu Hai is a different concept as it is. And signing Munish Makhija as the host and adding a rustic flavour to the entire show was a brilliant brainwave, we must say.
Having Shreyas Talpade and Amrita Rao on the show to promote their film (Welcome To Sajjanpur) was again rather good. Though Amrita Rao could have been invisible for all we care, Shreyas and Munish struck a conversation of their own which though not extremely funny was rather amusing and kept us hooked on to the show.
Abusive language, we hear day in and day out on National television these days, thanks to MTV of course and not to forget Bigg Boss. But when Munish in his very haryanvi accent uses those very words they do not sound so bad after all. In fact it's amusing and at times rather funny.
As for the concept of the show, we found it intriguing too. Contestants (who will not know that they are the contestants till they board the cab) will have to answer simple questions. There are three rather funny lifelines, one of them being getting off on the road and asking people around for the answer. And for every correct answer, the contestants get hard cash!
Interesting don't you think? Well, the episode that had the Welcome To Sajjanpur stars was pretty amusing too. Shreyas was a natural and not for once did we feel that his part was actually scripted. It felt like he really was some Mahadev from a village called Sajjanpur. And the way Munish kept on looking at Amrita Rao and tried to woo her was quite sweet too.
After so many reality quiz shows with hi-tech gadgets and computers, this particular one was like a breath of fresh air. For once it was nice to see a quiz show that did not involve computers or big LCD screens and the likes. It was also good to see some simple questions being asked in a simple way to normal people.
The show does stand out. In it's own unique rustic way. And Udham Singh, sorry, Munish Makhija's brilliant hosting job made us wonder why he never did more shows. Or maybe because he did not, we enjoy him so much!

Very interesting
