Why the long face, Mr Bachchan?

Big B was totally disinterested in this exclusive interview

Amitabh hits out

At some point, Bachchan brought an interesting thread into the conversation. He started talking about what his detractors used to say about him in the early days. And promptly moved on to what his critics are saying about him today. His critics feel he should retire. Well, we all know who that barb was aimed at. Surely, Mr Bachchan you are at a stage in your life where the Anuraag Basus of this world are inconsequential.

There was only one incident where Bachchan gracefully accepted that he was completely off target. Apparently, when he was offered Amar Akbar Anthony he told Manmohan Desai the film might not be a commercial success. Amitabh disagreed with the title itself. But the film went on to become a blockbuster and Amitabh accepted his mistake. A fitting tribute to a brilliant mainstream filmmaker.

Such as I hate to make a comparison, I can't help but compare Bachchan to the other superstar in Bollywood – Shah Rukh Khan. Shah Rukh, irrespective of the hour of day, is always witty, charming and courteous. He too uses the media to hit out at his detractors but it's never a direct attack; it's a subtle process. And he has such a tremendous presence, each time he is on the screen you want to invite him for dinner.

Celebs all over the world turn on the charm when they're facing the audience. It's a part of their job. George Clooney, Brad Pitt, Karan Johar, Kajol… these are the men and women who make for good TV.

Let's face it. We have all seen Mr Bachchan on the 'Simi Garewal' show. And he can be charm personified when he decides to…

When an actor feels he can be curt, brusque and matter-of-fact on national television, it may not do great things for his career. And Amitabh did just that in this interview. Greater mortals have found themselves facing anonymity when they took their audience for granted. Remember Rajesh Khanna? Or have we forgotten him already…?

The media people like the writer of this article are nothing but a clan of self proclaimed aristrocrats.the stupid questions asked in the interviews (let it be by ur rajdeep sardesai) are nonsense. Actually the media people of the current times are the same old face of communists trying to impose their agendas.

don't misinterpret, people are listening and can figure out what is wrong and what is right. Ibn7 all nonsense, zero substance.

I do hope that ibnlive and of course, your tv channel are a little more informed than you actually project. Your insights and pop psychology efforts regarding mr bachchan writing articles on certain issues do not reveal so. So for a change - surprise us. Do read his article on the program ratings and maybe, just try understanding the point he was making. And yeah - while you are at it, stop sulking because i am sorry to inform you, barring a few (very few) you hardly have journalists of merit and caliber who can strike up an interesting conversation. If you didn't like the way he spoke to the journo, you have the choice of not airing the program.

I am not much in awe of mr bachan he is just one person with a lot of luck and i guess his past movies deewar sholay kabhi kabhi made good hit films
as regards to his persona well frankly speaking each and every star is either bitcing about one another or not having good vibes with each other
it speaks very poorly of their characters
each one has its own talents good points or bad bottom line they are all filmstars so why condemn or talk ill of each other
but when amitabh does not hold his own brother in good terms then how can it boe of others
admit he is a great star an icon as he is xalled but all said and done
we are all great in our own little sphere
we are all indians and belong to one big family
reaching out touching lives smiles zand a lot of love can make all the difference

Dear sarah, perhaps if you read mr bachchan's blog then you would know how to make your boring and totally annoying article truely interesting. Learn from him how to be intelligent, witty, sarcastic and totally humble at the same time. You and your ilk in india are truely a pathetic bunch! I wonder how excited you would be to chat after giving 50 interviews and journos like you asking the same boring old question.....! You people need to get a life...And i have noticed...Seems like buzz18 is filled with srk fanatics...After reading that hideous comparison a certain ms preeti did on srk vs ab....That was totally laughable.....Ha! Ha! Ha!

There is no reason to be seen as to why the entire bacchhan family is rude to the media. First they boycott the same and then for craving publicity apologises. When again the publicity part is over they again unmask their originality. It is the "hammest" family so to say in the country and such crude, rude cold and harsh behaviour with the media and that too with a young lady is beyond any doubt absolutely "animal like". The bacchans should now be banned by the media, which would surely be a tit for a tat. Shame for them and this clearly shows that even in the 21st century we have languid and narrow minded superstars too which can really be a hindrance for our country's march forward.

A biased comment about bigb from a srkfan. He don't need to prove to the media his charisma and worth. Media is running after him..Isn't it enough proof how worthy he still is at 62???? Media should also not take him to granted.

stop harassing mr.B i am so glad he is finally replying to you guys in your own coin, and media you never made bachchan its his fans who stood by him time and again unlike srk who bribes media that is why woh paachvi fail hai

Don't be rude or interrupt others who are having a conversation. Ethnic slurs, personal insults and abuses are rather uncool. Criticise, but know where to draw the line. No point putting in personal details or links, we won't publish them. Try and write in English and please, stick to the point!
