Aamir vs Faisal: What went wrong
Aamir Khan and Faisal Khan — one a superstar and the other a failed star, somewhere down the line the brothers separated and last week their lack of warmth was there for every one to see. CNN-IBN tells us what exactly went wrong with the Khan brothers.
It's a difficult time for actor Aamir Khan. A family matter concerning the mental health of his brother Faisal has turned into an ugly brother-versus-brother drama in the media. Even as much dirty linen has been washed by his father Tahir Hussain and his brother Faisal in the media, Aamir has chosen to maintain a strict silence on the matter. Those who know the family closely insist that Aamir has been portrayed wrongly.
It was Aamir who initiated Faisal's entry into Bollywood years ago. Aamir was instrumental in Faisal landing his debut in Vikram Bhatt's Madhosh and when Faisal's career failed to take off, Aamir worked opposite him in Dharmesh Darshan's Mela with the hope of giving his career a new lease of life. When it became clear that Faisal was not cut out to be an actor, Aamir funded Faisal's business venture and encouraged him to stand on his own feet.
When Faisal's goat-farming enterprise failed to take off Aamir paid for all of Faisal's expenses. It was at this time that Faisal started showing signs of disorder. After initially agreeing to seek medical help, Faisal eventually stopped taking medication and severed all ties with Aamir. Thus began the custody battle for Faisal between Aamir and his father Tahir Hussain, which has opened a can of worms, resulting in embarrassment for all concerned, particularly Aamir Khan.
As the drama unfolded from the court, it kept making news a private family matter that reached every home. It's said that silence speaks volumes — clearly it didn't in Aamir Khan's case.
Much to Aamir's disappointment, the Court granted temporary custody of Faisal to Tahir Hussain despite ample evidence provided by Aamir, his mother and his sisters that Tahir Hussain was insolvent and incapable of caring for Faisal.
