Kamal Hassan’s liason with Sarika was well publicised from day one. Kamal got involved with Sarika when he was still legally married to Vani Ganpathy. Then of course Sarika got pregnant and there was hell to pay. They lived together for many years and finally tied the knot only after their daughters Shruti and Akshara had been born. But a decade into the relationship and the two parted ways on a bitter note!

Initially Sarika rejected the settlement that was offered to her. She claimed Kamal was treating her daughters and her in a shabby manner. This was about five years ago.

But now, both the kids are living with their father. Shruti is an aspiring singer and Akshara is hoping to compete at the 2012 Olympics in Latin ballroom dancing.

With Dashavtaaram ready-for-release Kamal seems all too keen to introduce his daughters to the media. Shruti performed live for the first time in Mumbai at the launch of the Indian edition of the Rolling Stone magazine. And father daughter happily posed for the press and channels. Kamal’s current girlfriend Gautami was very much around but Sarika was nowhere to be seen.

And in almost all her interviews Shruti keeps talking about how much she loves her daddy dearest but her mom is generally mentioned only in passing. Well, if you want to break into the world of playback singing, you need to know which side your bread is buttered.
