BOX OFFICE: Hits and misses
26th July at Barista (approx budget 1 crore)
Hit a search for this film on buzz18.com and the second headline of its review says it all. "The film," suggests the colleague who wrote the review, "is the best example of the worst kind of cinema". If the floods that hit Mumbai on 26th July three years ago were a disaster, this film was even worse. With a plot that could be just a little better than a porn film and some random characters put together in a coffee shop, the film was possibly seen only by the families of the people acting in it!
This one was a washout, literally. It reportedly raked in just about Rs 4 lakh. [REVIEW: 26th July is a disaster]
Shaurya (approx budget 2 crore)
Two things went wrong with this film – it wasn't just a blatant copy of A Few Good Men, but it also did a shoddy job at lifting the plot. Traditionally, army films have not done well at the box office. Barring say a stray Border, there hasn't been any that could have boasted of a good box office run in the recent past. Add to it, the concept of a court martial and you have something most movie-going audiences would not have even heard off. Also, we can't remember the last Rahul Bose film that actually managed to rake in the moolah at the box office.
Shaurya could manage to recover only about Rs 25 lakh. [REVIEW: Shaurya is a dud]
