Love Story: Cheer for Indian SFX
So we're finally here. Bollywood has got its feet wet in the Sci-Fi genre of movies with their latest big screen offering in Love Story 2050. "Enough with the past and the present, let's look to the future!" That was apparently what was on the director's mind when the idea of a love story that crosses time and oddly enough space, was conceived. But I'm not going to go into the details of a whole review of the movie, nope, this is merely an alternative perspective of a science fiction fan. Er… dude where's the future?
To begin with, I'm sure most movie goers and other people with eyesight, would have pretty much made their own calculated guesses as to what English sci-fi flicks Love Story 2050 has incorporated. I'd love to tell you and confirm your curiosity; but I won't spoil it for you. What I can tell you is that the future sure looks good.
Unfortunately you're going to have to sit through a (sigh) typical Hindi movie that runs for about an hour or more till you get to the good stuff. But you'll have a good dose of corn to fill your cravings if you're a Hindi movie buff so no worries.
No logic, great SFX
Firstly, don't expect the physics of the story to make any logical sense. Just in case you happen to have seen the movies that Love Story 2050 happens to embody in most parts, or read any sci-fi material of any kind, keep all that knowledge out; there's no place for logic here.
Having said that though I've always been a fan of the breed of Indian graphics designers and FX crowd. And that feeling has thankfully not been misplaced after watching this movie. Albeit some of the fight sequences are not from this century (pun intended) the visual effects and direction of the same were superb.
