Who wants to be original when you can play it safe in Bollywood?

Recently, we saw one of the most awaited action movies of the year bomb at the box office. Tashan didn't even stand a chance with its bizarre plot and slick action in the film. Perhaps it tried to stick to the formula of Race - top notch action and divas in battle definitely rake in the moolah.
No one in Bollywood wants to rock the boat, preferring to look for a safe, tried and tested formula and every decade has had one. Until last year, comedy ruled the roost and just before that remakes like Don and Devdas were doing the rounds. However, we also had historical dramas like Lagaan and The Rising. And we are still only talking about the first decade of the new millennium...
