VCD REVIEW: Bal Ganesh is enjoyable
The animated film by Shemaroo, Bal Ganesh, was quite a hit with the kids and adults alike. Now they have come up with a VCD set that is worth a buy especially with the festival holidays round the corner. The animation is definitely worth a watch and the video clarity not too bad either.
The tale of the childhood of Lord Ganesha has been narrated by Mooshak. Mooshak can any day give Remo of Ratatouille a run for his money. He does a classy job of bringing to the audience, the many adventures that the mischievous but extremely wise baby Ganesh gets into, accompanied by his ever-faithful vaahan, Mooshak himself.
We really enjoyed watching a couple of sequences. One of them was involving the moon. The Moon God has been animated extremely beautifully in the snow filled darkness. Another one is the underwater sequence with Mahavishnu and Mahalaxmi riding on Adi Seshan – it's been very attractively presented. One more scene to watch out for is Ganesh having a swim in a secluded pool in a forest area.
What will really set your kids' feet tapping is Kailash Kher's Shankarji ka dumroo bhaaje, Parvati ka nandan naache. The song has Ganesh, Mooshak, the Shiv ganas and a number of mice dancing away on Kailash Parvat.
We suppose it is too much to expect the high level of Hindi language to have been diluted for the VCD. But again, watching at home might be of help where it would be quite convenient for an adult to interpret the tough language for the kids.
