AAMIR: Taare isn't a children's film

The star steps out of his hiding and addresses the press just before his Taare Zameen Par releases

There's a certain aura around Aamir Khan that not many stars can really boast of. Intimidating yet somehow very endearing, Aamir carries off his stardom like no other. He lives on his own terms and knows exactly what to say in a roomful of media persons. Oh yes, a good number of us are quite taken in by the star… so much so that no one complains about the four-hour wait when he arrives and doesn't bother apologising. Yes there is something endearing about the man. Like the 20-something PR girl gushing soon after the meet, "Oh! Aamir sat next to you!" or the senior journalist requesting, "Why don't you come out of your hiding more often?' That's Aamir Khan for you. Accept him as he is or stay out of his way. Needless to say the 15 journalists patiently waiting for him chose the former. Excerpts from a media interaction:

You've done quite a few films with children. How has this one affected your relationship with your kids?

It's made me more sensitive and far more focussed on my children's needs. I'd like to believe I have been a good father but Taare Zameen Par has made me sharpen my focus on my children. It's not about how much time you spend with them. But rather that how tuned in you are.

What was your childhood like?

I had a very sheltered life. As all kids, I hated homework. But I was good at sports. There was a lot I learnt from my mother. She is a very sensitive woman.

There's a scene where the kid has a recurring nightmare. Did you have any?

Oh yes! I was always afraid of losing my sister. The nightmare that haunted me for the longest time was that she was kidnapped and had gone away. The other one involved me getting kidnapped (laughs). And of course I still have nightmares about my school exams!

Mr aamir khan

the contest caption everychild is special and winner to have lunch with office colleagues

where are kids in the office and yes every child is special not necessary to be a dyselix

parents havig 2 or 3 kids canot dote on one cause all three are precious

have not seen the film but by trailers etc we feel that focusing on one particular child maybe a deterent to other kids

however today movies hardly intreract with children so maybe could be a breath of fresh air

thanks aamir for pointing the focus on kids make more movies kid oriented mrs colleen traynor

did sms the very first day

frankly speaking this voting sms is all rubbish more a money making racket thanks

Don't be rude or interrupt others who are having a conversation. Ethnic slurs, personal insults and abuses are rather uncool. Criticise, but know where to draw the line. No point putting in personal details or links, we won't publish them. Try and write in English and please, stick to the point!
