EXCLUSIVE: Subhash Ghai speaks out!
Subhash Ghai is net savvy. The realisation dawned upon us when the director replied to a set of questions sent to him via email in a matter of hours. That's the thing about Ghai. The showman never ceases to surprise.
Yes he has had some rough times in the recent past. But that hasn't stopped him from doing the one thing he loves – making films.
So SG Sir, as he is fondly called, is now coming out with not one but two films. The promos for Black and White are already on air and Yuvraaj is also making news. Ghai is back. [MUST READ: What makes SG rock at 65]
In an exclusive email interview, Ghai answers all we want to know about the man and his craft.
Excerpts:
Everyone's been talking about Yuvraaj. Did you deliberately keep Black and White under wraps so far?
Black and White started and completed its principal photography before Yuvraaj even took off with its one-month schedule from September to November 2007. So we decided to release Black and White in the first quarter of 2008. [IN PICS: The music launch of Black and White]
Comparisons between Black and White and The Devil's Own are being made. How far are the rumours true?
I have nothing to say. And I can only laugh at these rumours. Firstly, I have never seen the said film so far. Please watch Black and White (it releases on 7th Match) and let me know. It's interesting though that some people, after just watching our promos, are trying to guess which film(s) Black and White belongs to. I can assure you they will be highly disappointed because Black and White is an original.
Every student of drama knows that there are only 36 plots in the world of human drama and thousands of movies have been made on these plots... unless of course you are a genius to think of film about a donkey and a monkey…Ha ha ha! [IN PICS: Look who sizzled at Ghai's b'day bash ]
