Gul hits out at Kat, Bebo and Deepika
Gul Panag has only done four films in five years. But the actress insits she wants to concentrate on quality instead of quantity. Here she is talking about her next release Straight.
What are you doing in a film about homosexuality?
I think it is something you can't ignore. It is a phenomenon that is increasingly becoming visible in our society. Not because it is on the rise, but because people are getting more aware. There are historical and pre-historical evidence of it. I think it's high time we make a film too.
So are you the woman who makes the man swing back from homosexuality?
I wish I could reveal more about the plot. But in a nutshell it's about a guy who is confused about his sexuality and how he deals with it. This film is not about a woman's love trying to change a man's preferences. Sexuality has nothing to do with love. The two are different.
Have you interacted with people who have reacted in a way this character does?
I know many people who are gay. Some open, some try to hide. Men are of course more open than the women. But I am not qualified to comment more on this.
There seems to be some confusion about the way your career is going. You do a Dhoop and then follow it up with a Jurm and again something so different as Manorama. Comment.
I have done four films and three have been critically acclaimed. So it is pretty clear which way I want my career to progress.
So aren’t you looking at mainstream?
I think that's a redundant question in today's cinema. I want to do roles that make me stand out. Anyways if your definition of mainstream is Tashan, I don't think it's worth

we expect better stuff from ibnlive than just sensational eye grabbing headlines. The interviewer puts these 3 names and no where in the interview has gul said anything offending about this trio.
learn to be a responsible media than a plain sensational tabloid.
