A project of this stature demands immense research. What kind of research is in swing?

Oh! The team is scouring through old footage, written documentation to collect information about Kishoreda’s life - as a singer, actor, performer or family man. His family is helping us immensely by letting us become privy to information that couldn’t get documented. In fact, his family, friends and erstwhile colleagues are the largest treasure-trove of information we have at the moment. The research is going to be very extensive, which is why the project will go on floors only by around 2009.

What prompted you to become a judge on K for Kishore? Is it part of your research or a bid to seek the perfect voice for the movie?

Both. K for Kishore is a show that has done a fabulous job of culling voices closer to to Kishoreda's and it couldn’t have come at a better timing than this. Having heard the singers on TV, I felt it would be the best place to scout for a personality and voice who would playback in my film. Also, I’m using this platform to let the Indian janta know that I’m making such a film and to appeal to them to come forward with any authentic documentation about Kishoreda that they have. There are people out there who have collected all his songs, have kept track of incidents in his life, and have anecdotes to narrate. Through this platform I want to request them to chip in with whatever information they have, in order to add to the biopic.

Coming to your other films, what’s happening to Aashayein and 8 by 10? Why did you change the title of Tasveer to 8 by 10?

Aashayein is almost complete and ready for release. It has shaped up beautifully with the locations in Pondicherry adding immense charm to the frames. I hope the film will give a hope to people addicted to gambling, to quit the addiction and get onto a better life. As for 8 by 10, that was its original title before we opted for Tasveer, which later started sounding less intriguing; which is why we reverted to the original. A psycho thriller, it will showcase Akshay Kumar in a never-seen-before avatar.
