Sanjay Gupta: I like looking at guns
Thriller after thriller… Why not make a romantic comedy?
Our forthcoming films Great Indian Butterfly is a light hearted romantic film. Also Meghna Gulzar's Miltein Hain runs on a similar line.
Tell us something about Pankh.
It's a very different concept… And our first art house release. This is a subject, which no one has worked on till now.
What made you cast Bipasha Basu in Pankh?
The director of Pankh, Mr Sudipto Chattopadhyay, wanted to cast someone like Bipasha. So I got him an interview with Bipasha. She loved the story and agreed to work with us.
What happened to Dus Aur Kahaniyaan?
We still want to make something like that.
Tell us something about your IPL shoot.
It was fun! Shooting for Mr Vijay Mallya has to be that way, right. And it was a very different experience. First time I heard cricketers throwing tantrums. They're a very disciplined lot and would come on time. But they wanted to leave also on time to attend their practice sessions. Katrina also was a real sport. She performed non-stop for seven hours since we had to complete the entire shoot in a day.
You are working with Danny Denzongpa in Acid Factory. Why so all of a sudden?
I love Danny. Am a great fan of his. I have always wanted to work with him. And the role in Acid Factory suited him. I couldn't have offered him just another role. I wanted the perfect role for him.
So any other actor you want to work with?
Kamal Hassan and Vikram from down south.
What happened to Chamki Chameli?
It's a great project but we are not doing it. Shyam Benegal has a great vision about this project and we could not do justice to the script. The movie should be made. And I hope somebody out there is making it. If not, I hope I gather enough money to do it myself.
