Working with Ajay is great: Kajol

Q: How does it feel being back on screen with Ajay after a gap of seven years?

Kajol: It doesn't feel like it's been that long. Yes, it has been almost seven years since we've come together on the screen. But we have done ads together. It's great to work with Ajay.

Q: Ajay Devgan, the actor is a very serious guy. How did his transition into direction happen?

Kajol: Ajay has wanted to become a director since he was about eight years old. He just got side-tracked into acting. His transition was very natural and comfortable. We all knew that he would make an excellent director. And I sincerely think that he's a better director today from having been an actor for so long. He has seen the shot from both sides after all...

Q: So, was it difficult for you to be directed by him?

Kajol: Fortunately for me he's such a good director that disagreements never arose. And we worked with a bound script so we all knew what we were planning to do. He was really quite amazing. He gave me the freedom to do things the way I felt comfortable. Yes, he did tell me what he visualised but left it entirely to me in terms of how I wanted to play it.

Q: You've recently ventured into television with Rock N Roll Family. How has the experience been so far?

Kajol: We've been offered a lot of shows on television. But we weren't always convinced that we believed in any of them. When we heard the concept of Rock N Roll Family the three of us immediately knew we had to do it. After all, it's all about family and values. It makes you see the old in a different light. I mean, just because they're pushing 80 or 85 and they aren't agile in their bodies, it isn't right to look at them differently.

Q: What is the status on Karan Johar's film Khan with SRK?

Kajol: Well, Karan has offered me the film and I think he would like me to do the film. But I haven't seen the script as yet. So I would not like to say that I'm doing it because that would be unethical.

Q: Will we see a lot more of you in the year ahead?

Kajol: Oh, I believe I do enough, as it is. If anything, want to slow it down a little.
