READ: Anoushka Shankar Chat
Pandit Ravi Shankar's daughter Anoushka has come into her own and is known as a renowned sitar player herself today. She's in India currently promoting her new album Breathing Under Water along with Karsh Kale. Excerpts from the Buzz18 chat...
Abhishek: when did you start playing the sitar
Answer: Hello everyone! Thanks for dropping by. Hey Abhishek, I started learning the sitar when I was around seven years old, but it was pretty casual for the first few years. By the time I was eleven it was a lot more intensive
vivek: Hey Wassup
Answer: Not much! Finally took a day in bed today enjoying the cold weather from a very warm warm room! Been working pretty hard this last few so it was nice to chill today
Kochu: hai anushka i am kochu here from Riyadh
Answer: Hello!
harshal: hy how are you
Answer: Bit of a cold but good otherwise! :)
divya: Hi Anoushka, Please tell us which is your favourite track from the album and why?
Answer: It's hard to pick favourites among your own tracks, they're a bit like your babies after a while! For different reasons I would perhaps (on different days) have as a favourite: burn, slither, PD7, easy, oceanic, and the reprise at the end
Cha: Hi Anoushka, How r u ? like your album "breathing under water"
Answer: thanks so much!
divya: I remember you had long curly hair, what happened? You still look great though and I am loving the sounds of your new album on this site. Is it available in the shops?
Answer: my hair is still curly actually, been straightening it now and then for fun...chopped it very short this year, just having some fun with the change, will grow it back soon enough, isn't that the great thing about hair? :) the album IS available in stores, yes.
raj: Hi Anoushka, what is ur new album about?
Answer: hmmm....well since it's a collaborative album it's my story and karsh's as well....we were trying to paint a picture, through music obviously, of the type of lives we live and how we see things in this globalised setting, but using our Indianness and hence Indian music as a reference point throughout. we used water metaphorically to trace our traveling lifestyles and also connections between varied but still-connected forms of music...
rohit 008: Hey, are you interested in acting? Have you been getting offers?
Answer: I get offers now and then. Perhaps it would be nice to do at least one more film in the future, if the right opportunity came up to do something special or unusual. but i'm not neccessarily interested in it in general- more depending on a specific role or chance...make sense?
