Who doesn't like a makeover? When Jassi got her makeover in Jassi Jaisi Koi Nahin, the whole world was watching with a bated breath! Actress Mona Singh is back on Sony Television's brand new show Naya Roop Nayi Zindagi which is based on ABC's Extreme makeover. We caught up with Mona, the anchor, to learn more about the show…

What is show all about?

The show documents the physical transformation of everyday people. It gives once-in-a-lifetime chance to a few lucky individuals with flawed looks — people with a congenial cleft lip, victims of acid attack — a complete transformation. All the makeover tricks will be including cosmetic surgery, make-up artists, in house- dentists, dermatologists and personal trainers. The show hopes to change not only an individual's looks but their lives as well.

How different it is from the other reality show?

First of all there is no winning or losing. There are no judges and there is no poll or voting system. Unlike other reality shows which is mostly about singing and dancing, this show intends to resurrect the lives of distraught individuals, facing stigma, loneliness due to some physical features of their face or body. These are the people who have been accepted by their family but rejected by the society. I have travelled across the country to call for entries for the miraculous makeover, and we have chosen 10 people to undergo this lifetime transformation. It's one of a kind show in the history of Indian television.

What's your take on saas-bahu sagas? And what made you take up this show?

Jassi Jaisi Koi Nahin was a path-breaking TV show and so was my role in it. After doing a substantial role like that I wouldn't like to get involved in a typical-dramatical role. I've always believed in doing challenging roles and the kind of person I am, I won't be able to mould myself into a meek, docile bahu kind of character. After Jassi… and Jhalak…I got many offers but it was conscious decision not to take any regular role or participate in any other dance reality show. But yes given a chance to host Indian Idol, I would readily do it.
