Akshay becomes Dr Kumar, finally!

The Khiladi star was conferred a doctorate by the Assumption University

Amidst cheering crowds, Akshay Kumar was conferred the title of Doctor of Laws by the Assumption University. Akki who hasn’t even completed his graduation in India, was quite obviously overwhelmed by the honour. The story of latest superstar in Bollywood, who had humble beginnings as a waiter in Bangkok, is by now well known.

This honour that I have received today is bigger than the Oscars. I am truly humbled," Mumbai Mirror quoted Akshay Kumar as saying at the convocation.

Surprisingly, no one from Akki's immediate family – including wife Twinkle – was present for the function.

The paper has also reported that the University authorities were in fact quite taken in by his impeccable career graph. But what impressed them the most was 'his charitable… in India and Canada.'

Akki was flown in from Toronto in a private jet and was reportedly greeted by a boisterous lot of fans.
