B'wood falling in love with Khali
Holding an open air event at the peak of Mumbai summer is probably a sadist's idea of a joke. The venue at Sun-n-Sand on a Friday evening has the usual faces hoping for a few controversial bytes. The film is Kushti and the cast is being introduced to the audience. But there is no brochure or CD being handed out. Obviously the event has been planned in a hurry.
But the mood in the audience is one of utter exhaustion; most peoples' minds are on the IPL and the dismal score being generated by SRK's team. The glitterati start arriving but even they seem to be in a subdued frame of mind. There is Priyadarshan the superstar director who definitely needs to get a new wig made. Then the pint-sized Rajpal Yadav turns up but he makes himself at home in the coffee shop his eyes glued to the TV set. KHALI: 420 pounds of sheer terror!
Surprise, surprise the hotshot financer Bharat Shah (of Devdas fame) also puts in an appearance. After his bout in prison, Bharat Shah rarely puts in an appearance at a film event. The venue is crawling with kids of all ages and sizes poised with cameras in their hand, for the real superstar is still to put in appearance.
