Cannes: What's happening now?
The Cannes Film Festival opens its gates again. The 61st year of the festival is seeing an impressive line-up. Steven Spielberg, George Lucas and Harisson Ford will make a trip to the French Croisette next month for the world premiere of Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. It's official now! Steven Spielberg, George Lucas and Harisson Ford will make a trip to the French Croisette next month for the world premiere of Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, which will have its world premiere at the Cannes Film Festival.The much-anticipated fourth installment in the Indiana Jones series will be screened out of competition along with Woody Allen's new film Vicky Cristina Barcelona, and the animated film Kung-Fu Panda.
The competition section includes brand new feature films by such leading filmmakers as Wim Wenders, Steven Soderbergh, and also Clint Eastwood whose film Changeling has made the cut. Leading Hollywood screenwriter Charlie Kaufman's directorial debut film Synecdoche, New York has also been selected in competition.
Two significant documentaries, one on the life of controversial boxer Mike Tyson and the other on football legend Diego Maradona will also be screened during the festival which will take place during May 14 to May 25.
This year, Oscar-winning Hollywood actor Sean Penn will head the competition jury at Cannes. But sadly, once again, no Indian film has been selected for official screening at the festival.
