Eros acquires Sarkar Raaj rights

The film will release in cinemas worldwide in May 2008

Finally, Eros International, acquires the international distribution rights for Ram Gopal Varma's much talked-about project Sarkar Raaj.

Starring the highly anticipated trio cast of Amitabh Bachchan, Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Sarkar Raaj is the sequel to award winning Sarkar, which was based on the politician-underworld nexus in Mumbai. Sarkar focused on the complexities of a powerful family, and was widely acclaimed for its unconventional, intense story, execution and performances.

Sarkar Raaj extends this storyline from the transition of power from the father to the son.

Confirming the deal Ram Gopal Varma said, "I am glad we have joined hands with Eros International for Sarkar Raaj. They have the capability and the distribution network to take the film to its deserved potential."

Jyoti Deshpande, COO and Commercial director, Eros International, added, "It's exciting to be associated with a film like Sarkar Raaj. It is one of the much awaited films this year with the ensemble of the Bachchan family adding an interesting dimension."

Sarkar Raaj will release in cinemas worldwide in May 2008.
