Nicolas Cage films have always had a different punch to them – whether they've been hits or misses. But the actor has not been having huge hits lately. His latest film, Next, which he has also produced, promises to be a good action thriller. Read on to know more about it.

Cage plays Cris 'Frank Cadillac' Johnson, a showroom magician in Las Vegas. He also has a special power – he can see the future for a few minutes. But he showcases nothing spectacular as a magician. In fact, he performs cheap tricks and survives on small gambling wins.

Cris lives under an assumed name in Vegas, as he does not warrant unwanted attention – tired as he is of the examinations he has had to go through as a child for possessing extra-sensory powers.

But when there's a serious terrorist threat to detonate a nuclear device in Los Angeles, government agent Callie Ferris (Julianne Moore) tries her best to convince Cris to help the FBI in stopping an impending catastrophe.

Jessica Biel plays Elizabeth Cooper, Cris' love interest. The cast includes Nicolas Cage, Julianne Moore, Jessica Biel, Thomas Kretschmann and Peter Falk among others.

Next is based on a short story called The Golden Man by Philip K Dick. It's directed by Lee Tamahori and produced by Nicolas Cage, Norm Golightly, Todd Garner, Arne L Schmidt and Graham King. The film has released internationally on April 27, 2007 and garnered a good response.

In Cinemas: October 5, 2007

Don't be rude or interrupt others who are having a conversation. Ethnic slurs, personal insults and abuses are rather uncool. Criticise, but know where to draw the line. No point putting in personal details or links, we won't publish them. Try and write in English and please, stick to the point!
