Kamal Hasan gets Best Actor award

The Film Fans Association has announced the award for winners of 2006-07

The winners for Best Actors are Kamal Hasan (Vettaiyaadu Vilaiyaadu), Ajith Kumar (Tirupathi) and Jeeva (E). Among actresses, the names of Nayantara (E), Sandya (Dishyum) and Uma (Ilakanam) have been announced.

K Balachander will be given a special prize for the film Poi. Actors Pasupathy and Prakash Raj will also be given special awards for their work in E and Sivakasi respectively. Among actresses, Renuka for Poi and Vadivukarasi for Thirudi will be given special awards.

Debutants to be felicitated are Harikumar and Karthika for Thoothukudi and Tanya for Thirudi. Karunas will be given the award for best comedian in E.

Playback singers Unni Menon (Vettaiyaadu Vilaiyaadu) and Chitra (Thoothukudi) have also been mentioned as award recipients.

The Best Movie Award goes to the Jeeva-Nayantara starrer E. Dishyum has been selected as the best entertainment movie of the year while Ilakanam is the best family drama movie. The film with the best story is the Ajith-Sada starrer Tirupathi.

The other winners include producer R.B.Choudry, director Gautham (Vettaiyaadu Vilaiyaadu), lyricist Vairamuthu, music director Harris Jayaraj and Cinematographer Ravi Varman.

The awards will be given on October 7, at Kamaraj Arangam.
