Preity: Marriage? Gimme a break!
Preity Zinta made an appearance at the launch of latest show on Nat Geo, Trapped. The event saw Preity in a chirpy mood as she spoke about her role as the Nat Geo - Godfrey Philips' ambassador
What is Trapped all about?
Trapped is a show on National Geographic channel in association with Godfrey Phillips, which seeks to salute the spirit of people who chose life over death by risking their lives to save those in major troubles such as floods, rail disasters, tsunamis etc. My role as a bravery ambassador is to make more people aware of these real-life heroes and heroines and inspire them to act equally bravely for the larger good, if caught in such situations.
What made you associate with the show?
For me, money is not the be all and end all of everything. As a conscientious citizen and an educated human being who’s privileged to be known by a large number of people, I find it a pleasure to associate myself with a cause that needs exposure. Secondly, having personally been rescued by extremely brave people in situations like a bomb attack and the tsunami, I salute the courage of these people who can think beyond themselves in such trying situations.
Would you like to talk about any particular incident in this regard?
I was caught in terrifying situations twice in a fortnight’s time. Once, there was a bomb blast in Srilanka wherein Shah Rukh Khan, Arjun Rampal and I were performing. It was a terrible thing to witness with arms and legs of people flying across and huge amount of blood splattered everywhere. I couldn’t sleep for three weeks after that. But I was saved from that situation by two brave men who literally lifted me off my feet and carried me all the way to a safe spot. Second time around, during the tsunami, when people were running helter-skelter, I was saved by some very brave locals who fought the waves and carried me to safety.
