REVIEW 2: Jodhaa Akbar is a fairy tale

And it is Hrithik who is the Emperor of Hearts. If only the film was shorter!

Like all well-told fairy tales, Jodhaa Akbar takes you on an epic journey into the heart of a man and a woman. The historical setting just adds to the colours, the sights and the sounds. And for the fun the designers have had with the costumes. ( READ: WHY JODHAA IS A FAIRY TALE )

To watch Jodhaa Akbar for historical accuracy is pointless. To watch it for any brilliant display of camera work or special effects is futile. Because chances are you may be hugely disappointed. Especially if you have seen other Hollywood historicals or epics on the screen. Rather, watch it for a simple tale of love.

Akbar, is unlike his bloodthirsty and tyrannical predecessors, and believes in winning the hearts of people rather than conquer them by force. And what inspires him to transform himself, and in effect alter the destiny of the Mughal empire, is his own intent and one woman's love.

Ash on being Jodhaa

To say this is Hrithik Roshan's finest performance till date will be no exaggeration. If you have seen him in Yaadein, or for that matter Koi Mil Gaya or even Krrish, you will see how much he has matured. Scene after scene, frame after frame, Hrithik dominates.

If he is the steely emperor of Hindustan, leading his fearsome army one moment, he is the vulnerable lover, longing for the intimacy of his wife in the other.

Jodhaa Akbar belongs to Hrithik. Take for example the scene in which he is practicing swordplay, his taut muscles rippling, eyes afire. Watching from behind a sheer curtain is Jodhaa, who had till then resisted his advances. The sheer magnetism of the man is enough to add colour to the Rajput princess blanched cheeks. You understand why she lets out a gasp.

Amazing master piece of our times. All the other crap movies like oso , welcome , race, go down the drain comparing to the class movie like jodha akbar. Its real visual treat. What performaces by hrithik and ash ...Real soul level music and drama ...Just beautiful. The best movie of bollyood this year. If this movie doen't win awards in the next year filmfare ..All my doubts about srk buying the awards will be confirmed.

It is a masterpiece. Hrithik is in the career best performance so far. It is a must watch in all aspects. Be it 'khwaja mere khwaja' or the fight scenes... It is a brilliant direction. 10/ 10 to the crew. People who say its nt a gud muvi... I think they should think again or shud agree to this that they have a poor taste.

The film is good to watch....
hrithik has done an amazing job.......But the film is too long
n it is far away from the actuality....
overall it is a good movie and i'd rate it as 6.5 out of 10.

Very disappointing!!
the reviews were misleading and made us go to the movie. We came back disappointed. Had to travel in the traffic all the way to see this poor film. Acting of hrithik was poor. He was a bad choice as akbar.
