Tabu to fight Govinda
Tabu never hesitates to experiment. After playing the love interest of a 64-year old chef Buddhadev Gupta in Cheeni Kum and a mother of two grown-up kids in The Namesake she will be seen as a lawyer in Ravi Chopra's Banda Yeh Bindas Hai. This film is an official remake of My Cousin Vinny. The actress who considers comedy her forte is greatly excited by her role. But this is one of the rare times Bollywood is going for an official remake rather than filching a story idea.
Ravi Chopra had earlier offered the role to Bollywood hotties such as Bipasha Basu, Mallika Sherawat and even Sushmita Sen. Unfortunately; they were not convinced about the role. But Tabu has taken it up as she considers it a challenge of sorts.
The film has Govinda and Lara Dutta in the lead roles. The original Hollywood version had Joe Pesci playing a bumbling middle-aged lawyer fighting his first case, a murder case, with hilarious consequences. Govinda will now play the role of Joe Pesci and Tabu plays the role of the public prosecutor who torments Govinda at every stage.
Chopra seems to be in an adventurous mood as the original version had a male public prosecutor. Let’s hope Chopra and Tabu manage to pull this one off.
