Vivek Oberoi to sue Mid-Day?
Vivek Oberoi is planning to drag Mumbai tabloid Mid-Day to court on charges of defamation. The paper has published an article on April 7, 2008, with the headline 'Vivek misbehaves with dinner host's gal, gets slapped'.
The 'eyewitness' report claims Vivek and Mission Istanbul director Apoorva Lakhia were at a common friend’s party in Bandra, where the former got drunk and flirted with the host's foreign girlfriend. He even kissed her, for which he got slapped by the girl, it says.
According to Mid-Day's source, Lakhia was embarrassed and carried Vivek home (though the director denies the incident). And reportedly, the actor however, showed no signs of remorse even after two days of the kiss-and-get-slapped episode.
But Vivek's publicist Dale Bhagwagar, in a press note, tells a different story altogether. "Where is the question of an 'eyewitness' when no such party or function ever took place," he says.
Mid-Day, however, stands by its report. What remains to be seen is whether Vivek actually sues the paper or not.
