Why is Cheeni Kum's sound sweet?
Over three decades of music and the legendary South Indian film musician Ilayaraja can still tingle your spine
Over three decades of music and the legendary South Indian film musician Ilayaraja can still tingle your spine.
But to get the best out of Ilyaraja's first original Hindi score in Cheeni Kum you have to go beyond Shreya Ghoshal's playful title track that has been doing the rounds and listen to the track Baaten Hawa also sung by her.
This is where the score starts getting pleasantly into your system, with typical Ilayaraja sounds.
There is technically just one more original track in the album called Jaane do na as the others are just themes and a male retake of Cheeni kum. It's an album that's short and 'sweet'!
