Women and the dirty Dubai plot!

Since I put up excerpts from my yet-to-be-published book The Double Offer on this blog and since it was highlighted by Buzz18.com (Thanks a ton CP – you are really a darling) and IndiaFM (Thanks a million all at IndiaFM), I have got as many bouquets as well as brickbats.

Well, I don't mind the bouquets and brickbats – I have long known that it's part of being an 'outspoken' journalist.

But what has disturbed my family and me are the half-a-dozen-odd crank and threatening calls I have got in the last two days - two of them from a Dubai cell number. The Dubai caller called twice and first abused me with the choicest gallis. The second call was more direct.

He said that if the book was published mentioning names, I would pay for it with my life. He didn't have a problem though, if names weren't mentioned. He even offered me a big gift if I deserted the book.

He said that one of the "item girls" I was vaguely referring to in the excerpts published online, sounded or felt like his legally married wife. When I asked him what the name of his legally married wife was, he said that he had three wives and it was none of my business to know their names. When I asked him who he was, he said he was one of the biggest 'private party' organiser in the Gulf region and that most 'item girls' from Mumbai were his 'girl friends'.

Buoyed by that response, I then asked him if all his three wives featured in my work as item or call girls and that's when he lost his cool. He said that if the book was published, and if 'his wife's name' appeared in it – as he felt he was sure I was referring to his wife who no longer is a 'call girl' and had turned a new leaf – he would personally kill me.

He actually admitted that the woman was earlier sleeping around, but now she is "just doing some small modeling work" and is completely reformed.

Well mr. Flynn, eventually its all about the money honey and if there are people ready to spend and others ready to accept that money allowing them to lead better lives in this crazy world where without the green surviving is a tard too difficult then what sense does it make in getting into such detail. Just because you have been fortunate to have a good education and a chance to earn money a little easier try putting yourself in some one else's shoes before even trying to make them walk barefoot. I am not saying whatever goes on is moral or not, all i know is, as you are saying yourself these are facts which are pretty well known then why try getting yourself some short lived attention by ruining others livelihood when it actually isnt affecting you directly in any manner whatsoever. If the media and people like you really want to do something, try working towards getting all the future prospects to such businesses a better education and a better chance of making a more respectable living rather than just try washing others dirty linen in public when they are going to soil them all over again no matter how much bleach you add. Responsible media isnt about this. If you ask me, you are doing this for one, to get the green into your own pocket which would be the outcome of the sales of your book and two, for the attention you will get. In that case, you are no better than those starlets you are mentioning in your book, because the destination is the same just the paths you tread are different. Grow up and try probably getting those folks to also spend some money into schools etc. Rather than anything else. Everyone wants to be the moral police these days in our country, its a trend picking up i guess.

As the author of the work the double offer, i have never stated that i have a problem with what adult consenting women do with their bodies, although at times, it may sound like that in my story. I am only reporting a fact, which otherwise is already known.

through this book, i also want to high light another known truth - all that glitters (on stage) is not gold. As media people we glamourise models, starlets and item girls. We put them up on a pedestal. It's high time we realised that not all (including me- let me add that before one of you dear readers does) are clean or clear as crystal.

Why is this such a big deal? This is common knowledge that the starlets who flock to the gulf double as sex workers. What is the author's problem with it? If it was an expose of innocent girls being tricked into prostitution, it would be a good story. But this is of adult women doing it of their own free will. Its time the government got out of the business of legislating morality. Let consenting adults do what they want to and concentrate on eradicating child and forced prostitution,

Nice way to sell your book

This what happens when a person want to reveal the truth to the world. The rich are hipocrites, and think they can do anything with the money the have.

Don't be rude or interrupt others who are having a conversation. Ethnic slurs, personal insults and abuses are rather uncool. Criticise, but know where to draw the line. No point putting in personal details or links, we won't publish them. Try and write in English and please, stick to the point!
