Viju Shah

Just as Anand-Milind, Viju Shah's outdated music has also cost him his career. Shah has delivered hits such as Mohra, Gupt, Bade Miyan Chote Miyan, Tere Mere Sapne and Mohra among others. The only film he has in to his credit today is Zamaanat, which is in the cans for years.

An industry observer points out: "Listen to Asambhav and Victoria No. 203. The music sounded dated. If you want to survive your music should sound fresh. Then again, he always gave his best to Rajiv Rai. So other producers felt apprehensive of signing him. Now he is totally out of work because Rajiv Rai is not making any films!"

Ismail darbar is hyped over the top. The fact is that apart from hum dil de chuke sanam and devdas, the others were duds, with not a single composition to write home about. He also thinks too high of himself. By the way we have one more guy-anu malik, who's completely out of business. You had to watch him blowing his own trumpet in the rajeev masand hosted "to catch a star" in cnn ibn. That was a torture to see him brag about his compositions...

Anand raaj anand is one name that you missed out. A very talented and original music composer. We miss him a lot nowadays....

It happens all the time and in today's world longevity is an exception . But if you look back khayyam made a come back after a decade. Other thing is that economics of film making and selling has changed . So if producer wants his investment to be recovered before movie is released he will go for names like rahman , shankar-ehsan -loy which sell .
that's business mantra in today's world.

It is a pity that such a genius composer like ismail darbar is out of work. Maybe times have changed but current music has a very short shelf life and after 2 months nobody remebers the new songs anymore

Dear pari,
you too need to be corrected. The music of andaaz apna apna was by tushar bhatia, no relation to vanraj bhatia and yes, the background score was done by viju shah.

Dear music cos,
if you sell 5 songs cd for rs. 150 to 250/- & cassette for rs. 50 to 75/- for same songs, its going to happen. Now-a-days, it costs more to manufacture a cassette than cd. Cant you sell cd for rs. 50 to 75/-?

Sandeep Kanchalwar Mar 06, 2008 at 12:48 PM

Andaz apna apna music is given by tushar bhatia and not by vijus shah. Shankar-ehsan-loy composed farhan akhtar's lakshya's music and not jatin-lalit.

Atul Mar 06, 2008 at 03:24 AM

Jatin lalit didn't do lakshya, shankar ehsaan and loy did.
also, viju shah didn't do andaj apna apna, vanraj bhatiya did.
please correct this.
