A musical show of the evergreen songs of veteran poet and lyricist Majrooh Sultanpuri, legendary playback singer Mohd Rafi and music composer Naushad will be held on Monday, October 29, 2007 in Mumbai. Artistes Ashok Khare, Kakaji, Vora Saab and Prarthana will be performing at the event.

The late Majrooh Sultanpuri wrote popular poems and songs for 60 years, right from 1949 to 2000. Winner of the Dadasaheb Phalke Award, Majrooh never lost touch with the common man whose interests and struggles were reflected in his writings. The lyricist saw films as a means to earn his livelihood, but his real passion was shaairie and mushaira. Interestingly, Majrooh had given playback for a film, Ganga Ki Lahren, in 1964

Rafi lovers and family members of Naushad and Majrooh have arranged for a musical evening and meet to celebrate Majrooh Sultanpuri's birthday, which was on October 1.
