Ajay Krish: I follow my heart
After playing leading roles in Ardhangini and Mamta on Zee, Ajay Krish is finally on a break and a well deserved one at that, according to him. Having worked non-stop for three years now, the actor says he's having a great time rejuvenating.
Very few of us actually know that this hunk lived, worked and studied in New York before he moved back to India to pursue a career in acting. Having earned an MBA he even worked on Wall Street for a while. To a lot of us that would have to be an ideal life, right? So what made this actor drop all of that and move back to India?
"A lot of people told me not to do it," says Ajay. "When I left Wall Street I definitely left a lot of moolah on the table but hey, I followed my heart."
The actor claims that he knew from the age of 18 years that becoming an actor was his destiny. But his parents advised him to stick to his education and build a career accordingly so as to have a solid back-up in life. Having achieved all that he possibly could including an MBA and a high profile job, the actor decided it was finally time to follow his dreams.
The acting bug had indeed claimed another victim. Well spoken and polite, Ajay Krish didn't have it too easy but he also claims that it wasn't very difficult. The actor was definitely quite experienced as he had participated in numerous stage shows in New York. As to why he moved back to Mumbai instead of pursuing his career abroad the actor said that he had to adopt a realistic view to the market he would appeal in.
"I won't lie. It's difficult to make it as an Indian actor in New York," he said. "Your skin, colour and language always make a difference. For an Indian to reach the top in America would be like an American reaching the top in India. I knew instantly that I would have more of an appeal in the Indian market."
Currently, this actor is on a break and is doing all that he didn't have time to do when he was shooting. He has been spending time with family, pampering his dogs and he is also hitting the gym to get into shape.
"I also have quite a few offers lined up for me," he says. Moving out of the Zee cocoon, the actor has decided to be a little choosy about what he wants to do in future.
Regardless, he strongly believes in always following his heart and will perhaps put work on hold until he receives something he deems worthwhile.
He has only one message to all those out there who dare to aspire - "Always follow your heart!"
