Ekta Kapoor loses non-payment suit
After the ruling, Pulkit told Mumbai Mirror, "As an actor, I have the right to grow and move on from one role to another. I enjoyed playing Lakshya, but I can't play Lakshya for the rest of my life. And I have the right to choose my roles. What has been happening in the TV industry is very wrong and someone had to speak up. But everyone is scared, so they keep quiet and take it. Even the judge said in court that it’s wrong to stop an actor from working in different projects. In fact, he even said that such contracts shouldn't exist in the industry and should be abolished."
Pulkit complained that he got to play his character for only about five months. "After that there was nothing left in my character," he says, adding, "Junior artistes had more lines than mine. Very often, all I had to do was answer the door if anyone rang the bell or say, 'Ma, kitna accha khana banaya hai'. I didn't come all the way from Delhi to do this! So I wanted to move ahead."
But Pulkit diplomatically added, "I have nothing against Ekta, she has given me my major break. But the work atmosphere in Balaji is not very healthy. There are a few people who feed Ekta with information and she reacts to that information. So, the rest of our viewpoints don't get across to her. She prefers to trust those people. I did talk to Ekta and apologised too. But she said, it was nothing personal, the company has to take certain steps in professional matters."
Pulkit reportedly has offers from both the film and TV industries, and he assures he "will read each contract at least 10 times".
