Is TV making a mockery of singers?

Sukhwinder Singh however did not echo Kher's sentiments and sounded very bitter about musical contests on television. "The words music and contest don't go together. Music is not a battle where you make singers fight over petty issues. The kind of fake drama some shows are doing for the sake of TRPs is disgusting."

But no such issues with Yeh Shaam Mastani as the makers insist it is purely about music. Hosted by Mini Mathur, the show also has elements where friends and family members of the celeb will make an appearance.

As Kher said, "It is Harmony meets Jeena Isi Ka Naam Hai. But with a modern packaging." The singers will not only sing their own numbers but also classics that have inspired them. Kher will be paying a tribute to Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan while Sunidhi and Sukhwinder will relive their favourite Kishore-Lata numbers.

Slated to be a seven-episode show, the makers hope to extend it to another season with more artistes. So, if adventure game shows and quizzes don't do it for you, maybe you could enjoy some more singing and dancing.
