Mission Ustaad: Grand Finale
After 13 weeks of musical extravaganza, the grand finale of Mission Ustaad will finally happen on February 23, 2008. Getting an opportunity to watch the contestants rehearse before the final take was indeed an exhilarating experience.
The jodis, Roop Kumar and Sunali Rathod, Shweta Pandit and Naresh Iyer were gleefully practicing together while Kailash Kher and Vasundhra Das's partner were conspicuously missing in action.
The rehearsals began with the recent Jodhaa Akbar hit Azeem-o-Shaan Shehenshah sung by Kailash Kher along Roop Kumar. While they were trying to get the synchronization of the raaga dhin dhum ta na na na, Naresh Iyer was busy chatting away on the phone and Vasundhra was engrossed in some book. But not for long... soon after they all took the stage to perform on Yuva's song Fanah... followed by the title song of Om Shanti Om.
And we must admit that there's a vast difference between hearing it live and watching it on TV. No wonder the sets of programmes like these and Indian Idol are packed with people.
Other performances of the night will include Koi Kahe Kehta Rahe from Dil Chata Hai by Roop –Sunali, Yeh Hosla from Dor by Vasundhara- Mohit, Chake De India by Shweta- Naresh and Suno Gaur Se Duniyawalon from Dus By Kailash- Mahalaxmi.
We were also told the opening of the show will be done by none other than A R Rahman with the song Baar Baar Haan Bolo Yaar Haan from the movie Lagaan. The result of the episode will announce the winner of the best original compositions by the various pairs which will be then selected to be compiled in an album to spread the message of the UN Millennium Development Goals across the country.
The last episode will also be judged by the resident judges of the show, A R Rahman, Javed Akhtar and Lara Dutta, but as usual the final decision is in the hands of the audience. So regardless of who emerges as the 'Ustaadon Ke Ustaad Jodi', do tune in to 9X on February 22 and 23 to catch this pulsating finale at at 9 pm IST.
