Sandeep is the 'Biggest Loser'
Sandeep Sachdev was crowned India's first Biggest Loser on Saturday, September 1, 2007. When Sandeep came to the show, he weighed 124.9 kg and worked hard to come down to 74.2 kg in 16 weeks. As part of the crowning ceremony, he received a cash prize of Rs 50.7 lakh for losing 50.7 kg. He was also awarded a beautiful Solitaire as a token from Gitanjali Gems & Jewellery.
"I cannot believe what has happened to me. I am feeling very light. I am excited and am trying to live this moment, enjoy this moment. It feels great to see my near and dear ones so happy and proud of my achievement. I have huge responsibilities with this new life," said Sandeep.
The glittering event was anchored by Mandira Bedi, while Neha Dhupia, Malaika Arora Khan and Rakhi Sawant grooved and sizzled to popular filmy numbers. Also rocking the stage with a group dance were the 13 eliminated contestants of Biggest Loser Jeetega and the finalists Sandeep, Natasha and Hiren.
The host of Biggest Loser Jeetega and mentor to the 16 finalists, actor Suniel Shetty along with fitness director Andrew Leipus, trainers Deepika Mehta and Yusuf Khan and chef Varun Shivdasani talked about the special moments they shared with the contestants at Amby Valley City, praising them for their conviction.
Among the eliminated contestants, Ajay Nagrath turned out to be the Biggest Loser post the weigh-in, winning a Rs 5 lakh cash prize and a diamond studded dumb-bell from Gitanjali Gems & Jewellery for losing 60 kg in 16 weeks.
"I give the credit to my trainer Yusuf who had complete faith in me throughout. He had set a target weight for me and I am very happy that I have accomplished it by losing 60 kg and made him proud," says Ajay.
