TV's big clash: Toshi vs Vineet
If there is one common thread running through all reality shows, it is the high voltage melodrama. From angry parents to dejected participants to judges accusing each other of favouritism – the so-called reality on television can put any Bollywood potboiler to shame.
These days clashes begin in the first few episodes itself. Taking the cake is Star's Jo Jeeta Wohi Superstar where two contestants are fighting over a particular song that both want to sing. The song is Sukhvindar Singh's Lagan Lagi from Tere Naam and it has become the point of discontent between Toshi Sabri (first seen on Amul Star Voice of India) and Vineet Singh (of Sa Re Ga Ma Challenge Season 1 fame).
Each one is insisting that the he can do better justice to the song than the other. Finally the battle seems to have swung in Toshi's favour, but we talked to both of them to find out their take on reality show clashes.
Toshi takes it all:
Why did you both end up fighting over a particular song?
Both of us liked this song by Sukhvindar Singh and we were very eager to to sing it. Luckily the judges felt I could do a better job, which is why Vineet had to choose another song.
Don't you think people will find such an argument fake?
People have the right to form their opinion and we can’t do anything about it. There are only these many hit songs to sing. So obviously everyone wants the best numbers for themselves on a music show.
But why do you guys fight so much on these reality shows?
I can only talk about my show. We are 18 participants in Jo Jeeta Wohi Superstar, so ego clashes are bound to happen. It's not as if we are fighting each other with lathis. It is just healthy competition.
Assuming these fights are real, how do producers react to these sudden interruptions?
Producers understand the pressure on the participants so they don't hold us back.
Now that you will be singing Lagan Lagi, what do you think worked in your favour?
We reached this conclusion after consulting our music gurus. I think I can do full justice to the number. As for Vineet's new song, I am not sure. You will have to wait and watch.

Now Toshi seems to be underplaying his victory but Vineet is no mood to be a gracious loser. Here's what Vineet had to say.
