REVIEW: 26th July at Barista
The Mumbai floods on July 26, 2005 were a disaster, and the movie based on it is another. All one can do while watching this film apart from getting bored is wonder why such a movie was ever made. It is not only bad but gives bad cinema a new meaning altogether.
Some movies are bad and some may be worse. Some make you laugh and some make you cry over the money wasted on the ticket! But 26th July at Barista is of a different genre altogether. This film will frustrate you and then you'll be so angry, you'll lose your power of thinking or judging or anything. By the end, (if you survive that long, that is) you'll be mentally, physically and emotionally drained.
Do you still want to know what this movie is about? Well, it's about the July 26, 2005 night and a handful of people who get stranded during the floods at the Juhu Barista.
There's this boy (Shivam) and there's this girl (Raashi) who form the love angle in the film; there's a couple waiting for their children to come back from Essel World; there's a writer, an aspiring movie star, a child who's lost her father, an old lady who's lost her grandchild, an ex-prostitute who's suffering from AIDS, a police inspector and his men and obviously the Barista manager and staff. Phew! And the movie is about all of them.
Oh, of course, there's the girl's mom and friend in Vashi who have exactly two minutes of screen space and the boy's parents and brother settled in Delhi (again two minutes of screen space) who try to provide some comic relief to an audience that's already in tears.
And the so-called non-existent plot unfolds. Some random, totally unconnected dialogues get exchanged. It looks as if the people are doing just about anything making no sense at all.

I totally agree with the review - i happen to see the movie and wondered what was happening - never managed to finish the movie
This movie sucks so much that when you are just about relegating yourself to the reality that this movie sucks...Its sinks to a depth of stupidity that is unfathomable...Please stay away from this movie like plague...Its random, unconnected, illogical with a smithering of brain numbingly dumb dialogues and uninspiring acting by a random set of jokers...It feels like the actors are laughing at the audieces who dared to venture to watch their foolishness on screen...
Superb!! Not the movie, but the review . Cheers
