REVIEW: Mr Black Mr White
Some movies will make you laugh, some movies will make you cry then there are some movies which make you ask why….You want to know what this movie will make you feel? Read On
The Plot:
The plot is to dupe people out of their money. Oh no, this is not the movie's plot, but the director's.
Two years in the making, this cinematic masterpiece makes you want to bang your head against the wall and ask director Deepak Shivdasani- why, why why?
The opening shot: Three hot chicks (Sandhya Mridul, Tania Zaetta, Kamala Ning) steal diamonds worth millions of rupees, a la Charlie’s Angels.
Cut two.
Kishen (Arshad Warsi ) is a petty conman from Goa. He justifies his profession on the pretext that he's got a sister to provide for. His girlfriend Anuradha (Rashmi Nigam) is under the impression that it's Kishen’s twin brother Harry who's a conniving thief. Kishen justifies his lies on the pretext that she's a nice girl and deserves to be shielded from the ugly truth. In between all this stealing and lying he stumbles on a cartel of diamonds worth millions of rupees stolen by three hot-chics who are staying in his hotel.
Gopi (Sunil Shetty) is an illiterate villager from Hoshiyarpur who comes to Goa in search of Kishen. He meets Tanya (Anishka Khosla) who turns out to be the owner of that resort.
Laadla, the Don (Ashish Vidyarthi) is the man who owns the diamonds belong to. His dear mother dies while giving him the good news that he has become a Don. At the cost of getting butchered let me declare, this was by far the funniest scene in the entire movie.
Anyway, his mother’s death makes him so emotional that the mere word 'Maa' can unleash an ocean of tears.
Tulsi ( Manoj Joshi) is Goan cab driver who dupes unsuspecting tourists.
Jack Brown ( Sharat Saxena) is a Goan police inspector who is perpetually confused. And trust me, by the end of the movie you are so going to relate to him)
The climax:
Now take all these characters add a few unmentionable more, give them a character role-play and a few unmentionable songs – that’s your movie. And yeah all these people meet in the final showdown, and no prize for guessing - everyone wants the diamonds. Wasn't Golmaal, Apna Sapna Money Money and Victoria 203 just about that?
Performances:
Arshad Warsi: His charming smile can tickle you in couple of scenes
Sunil Shetty: He does not even smile in the entire movie
Rashmi/ Anishka: What can we say about these 'sensational' ladies!
Verdict: Goa is a beautiful place. I think the director was on 'Feni' all the time. If only he could organise a bottle each for the audience at the beginning of the movie, it would make an interesting watch while you’re passing out.
Rating: -1/5
