REVIEW: Rama... is a boring drama
What's it about:
If you have seen No Entry, Masti or Shaadi No 1, you pretty much know what to expect from this week’s new release. Rama Rama Kya Hai Dramaaa is about two bankers and their frustrated married lives. Santosh (Rajpal Yadav) is tired of Shanti's (Neha Dhupia) suspicious and dominating nature. While Prem (Aashish Chowdhury) just can't seem to satisfy the over possessive and demanding Khushi (Amrita Arora). The happily married Khuranas (Anupam Kher and Rati Agnihotri) try their best to settle Santosh and Shanti's differences. But an adamant Santosh can't take any more of his wife's nagging and starts fantasising about every other woman he bumps into.
Watch out for:
Rajpal Yadav's superb comic timing! Over the years he has developed a unique style of - especially in Priyadarshan and David Dhawan movies, that works very well in slapstick comedies. While the jokes and situations may be as predictable as a prime time sitcom, Rajpal manages to raise enough laughs when he is on the screen. By the end however it’s a case of too much of a good thing.

Ineffective supporting cast:
Sadly, you can't say the same about the rest. None of the other actors (except for Neha and Ashish in some sequences) match up to Rajpal's timing. In the second half the director introduces unnecessary characters to raise a few more laughs. But it doesn't work.
Plot and production values:
For a movie that doesn't have much of a star value, three hours is just too much. Even worse is the film's hackneyed plot. You know exactly how the story will flow or how the characters will react. The director also adds some uninspiring songs that only add to the length of the film.
Too many films with a similar theme have been made in the recent past. Though some comedies might work purely on gloss, this one lacks that as well. Technically also, Rama Rama… bears a dull and clumsy look throughout.
Verdict:
Despite some funny moments even Rama can't save this predictable Drama.
Rating: 1.5/5
