Music Review: Boondh isn't Jal's best
First things first… Boondh is quintessential Jal music. If you've heard the Pakistani band's music, this album won't sound alien to you. But having said that, Boondh, as the name suggests, is just a drop of Jal. The songs are nice but their earlier numbers – Aadat and Woh Lamhe – continue to be their best.
Boondh has some classic guitar play and extremely hummable and youthful tunes that are so typical of the band. Apart from the last two slow songs – Sajni and Humain Itna Pyaar (slow version), the others are light, cheerful and soothing to the ears.
The band launched the album with Kwality Walls and their video with Amrita Rao, we are told, is already quite a rage amongst the youngsters. The album consists of 12 songs, which essentially touch upon the theme of youthful love.
The songs can be categorised as mushy except they do not sound all mush. The tunes are lively, young and fresh. They depict young love in a very light-hearted manner.
Lyrics are simple yet sound. They are sure to leave a mark on every young heart. And the singers have done full justice to each and every number like always.
There is no single song that is outstanding but the entire album as a whole is quite nice.
Some of the tracks like Mahia and Payal will make you swing to them or tap your feet to the light beats that bring out the music and guitar even better.
The fourth track of the album, Humain Itna Pyaar boasts of some amazing guitar rendition and powerful vocals. The tenth track, Kia Se Kia is probably the odd one out. This number does not talk about love as much as youth and energy. With some simple yet strong lyrics, this song is sure to make you sit up and listen.
Though none of the songs are as striking as their Aadat or Woh Lamhe, the album is definitely not disappointing.
Verdict: If you are a Jal fan or a guitarist or a musician at heart, buy it. The album will not disappoint you at all. The rest can also enjoy the album while chilling with friends. It will freshen you up!
