MUSIC REVIEW: Krazzy 4 is juvenile
Rajesh Roshan is a man who has given us some very memorable songs over the years. Many of us have grown up listening to his tunes right from the Kaala Patthar and Mr Natwarlal days. His last film Krrish has become something of a cult what with Hrithik Roshan flying from one building to another while humming his tunes. But somehow his latest film Krazzy 4 leaves a lot to be desired.
Enough and more airtime has been spent giving us sneak peek into the item songs featuring Rakhi Sawant and Shah Rukh Khan. There is no doubt that these two songs – Krazzy 4 and Dekhta Hai Tu Kya – will be on the top of the charts, not because they are good but simply because we are being made to listen to them 24/7.
The same goes for Break Free, which is just another version of the title song with the lyrics tweaked here and there. The album has one remix each of Krazzy 4 and Break Free so that makes it four tracks out of nine sounding pretty much alike.
Dekhta hai tu kya featuring Rakhi Sawant is your typical item song having a remix version. Add two more ordinary-sounding songs – O re lakad and Ik rupiya – to the list and that's pretty much what the album is made of.
For some reason, the last track is the National Anthem. If you haven't seen the CD cover carefully, this one will take you by surprise because suddenly you don't know whether to stand up out of respect or shut the music.
We may never understand the rationale of adding the National Anthem in the OST till the film actually releases (K3G also had Jana Gana Mana as part of its screenplay). But we do know that to have the anthem as part of a music album, you either have to be Bharat Bala or just plain Krazzy.
Verdict: The music of Krazzy 4 is a huge disappointment from a master composer. Lyrics by Javed Akhtar are not even worth mentioning. If you see it on the racks in music stores, we'd say run, run real fast!
