MUSIC REVIEW: Tashan is catchy!

After Dard-e-Disco, it's 'Dil Dance Maare' which will rule the charts

I pushed the play button on my player with much anticipation. For I was about to listen to the music of Tashan! And sure enough, I enjoyed the experience. Here's a take on the songs:

Dil Haara: It starts off with the soothing voice of Sukhwinder Singh – soon to gain tempo with beats and guitars. I put the system on full bass. This is sure-fire hit on big sound machines. Towards the end, just when I'm thinking that any DJ's remix of Dil Haara will sound good, the song gets into remix mode.

Pooja Ka Tashan: This opens with Kareena Kapoor's voice, introducing herself, "Pooja ka yahin toh hai tashan".

Chhaliya: This song has already caught on among listeners. It's a mix between folk and pop, and suits Kareena Kapoor's character in the film as well as her off-screen image. (Although personally, I don't know if I would like to listen to it again and again.) Chhaliya follows the trend of having English lyrics in between, a la the songs in Cash recently among others. Sunidhi Chauhan has done a decent job, but nothing extraordinary from her this once.

Jimmy Ka Tashan: This is Saif Ali Khan introducing his character in his cool dude style.

Dil Dance Maare: A sure-fire hit. After some funky music, when it starts with 'White white face dekhe dilwa beating fast, sasura chance maare re' you don't know what to expect! But it's soon clear that this tapori dance number will be everyone's favourite a parties. With lyrics like, 'Humra dil ka theatre ma dil deewana booking advance maare re' and 'Kadakti heat mein ban jaa dheet' you find yourself amused and smiling. But not once do you feel like moving on to another song. This Govinda-like number keeps you hooked. Sukhwinder Singh, Udit Narayan and Sunidhi Chauhan were definitely having fun while singing this song!
