MUSIC REVIEW: Tashan is catchy!
Bachchan Pande Ka Tashan: Akshay Kumar's voice as Bachchan Pande says it all – here's another winner from him!
Falak Tak: How can any Hindi film be complete without a love song? Udit Narayan and Mahalaxmi Iyer's Falak Tak is likeable from the word go. Just could imagine Akshay and Kareena swaying to it. Udit's typical romantic rendition and Mahalaxmi's equally good voice make this song stand out. Soothing among the heavy beats of other songs, the lyrics are also different – pure Urdu poetry by Kausar Munir with 'propah' romantic words. Catchy and growing on you like Chand Sifarish from Fanaa, this one might turn out to be chartbusting, too.
Bhaiyyaji Ka Tashan: Anil Kapoor sounds a bit like Big B, as the bad guy who loves to speak English. The actor has successfully moved onto roles earlier done by the likes of Anupam Kher, Naseer, Gulshan Grover or Paresh Rawal.
Tashan Mein: Again, heavy guitar and rock mixed with Sufi and classical. It takes time to catch the title song's pace and understand the lyrics, but it's loaded with attitude. Likeable. Singers Vishal and Saleem complement each other well.
Songs worth revisiting: Dil Dance Maare, Falak Tak, Dil Haara, Tashan Mein
Verdict: Vishal-Shekhar will go a long way. They are YRF's current hot favourites (Salaam Namaste, Ta Ra Rum Pum) and good competition to Shankar, Ehsaan, Loy (Bunty Aur Babli, Jhoom Barabar Jhoom), and they have delivered the goods.
