The Beginning of the Bond
You would think that this Irish lad was born to play Bond, but you'll be surprised. When Pierce was just 16, he actually wanted to be a painter. He joined Saint Martins College of Art and Design to pursue his dream but later changed his mind when he joined a theatre workshop at the Oval house while learning how to 'fire-eat'.
After being a successful fire-eater, Pierce decided to become an actor and trained for three years at the Drama Centre, London. After doing some good theatre, he got an offer to play a leading role in the TV mini-series Manions of America. He gained instant popularity with American fans and his success got him another role in NBC's romantic detective series called Remington Steele in 1982. In the same year, The Washington Post noted: Pierce Brosnan could make it as a young James Bond. Of course, it was more than 10 years before it came true.
